Control Charts are used for identifying if a process is in control or not. Quantum XL supports control charts for both variables and attributes data.

Variables data in subgroups

XbarR and XbarS charts are used when you have continuous measurement data.

  • XbarR chart: Creates two control charts. The first chart (Xbar chart) is a chart for subgroup means (averages). The second chart is the R chart, which displays subgroup ranges.

  • XbarS chart: Creates two control charts. The first chart (Xbar chart) is a chart for subgroup means (averages). The second chart is the S chart, which displays subgroup standard deviation.

Variables data for individuals

IMR chart is used when you have continuous measurement data, for individuals data.

  • IMR chart: Creates two control charts. The first chart (Individuals chart) plots each point from a dataset. The second chart is the Moving Range chart.

ZMR Chart

The ZMR chart is also called "Short Run" control chart when sufficient samples aren't available for the XbarR, XbarS, or IMR chart.

G-Chart and T-Chart (Rare Event Chart)

Rare event charts used when the count between times is less than 1.

Attribute data

Attribute charts are used for the data that comes from pass/fail inspection, like counts of defects.

  • p Chart: A control chart for defectives. Displays the proportion of defectives in each subgroup.
  • np Chart: A control chart for defectives. Displays the number of defectives in each subgroup.
  • c Chart: A control chart for defects. Displays the number of defects in each subgroup.
  • u Chart: A control chart for defects. Displays the number of defects per unit sampled in each subgroup.

Control Charts Wizard

Computer guided wizard to help you pick the best control chart for the problem.

Features:

  • Scrolling Control Charts: After the Control Chart has been created, you can customize how many data points are displayed and whether to display Zone Lines and Out-of-Control points or not. This is done using on-sheet controls, so Quantum XL doesn’t need to be running in order to scroll a control chart.
  • Custom out-of-control checking.
  • Add new data and update control chart.
  • Control Chart Outliers: Mark any point as an outlier, the plot will still be plotted but not included in the math for the control limits.
  • Control limits based on original data, all the data (including added data points), first N rows.
